  • I made the same mistake when I bought it bbkahlich. The premium purchase page is misleading. The Log In isn’t for PayPal – it’s for the widget website.

You need to fill in all of the fields below the log in link, and create an account in order to buy the premium upgrade.

It’ll take you to your paypal account after that.

I just bought the premium version. I wish I would have just tried the free one first. The premium features don’t work for me. I have an open ticket here, but it looks like the premium features may not be compatible with my theme (weird, because it’s a pretty popular theme – Genesis).

    Hope that helps!

Thanks Chris – and I have Genesis too so also thanks for the warning!

Sure thing. I just closed my open issue here. Tech Support at StudioPress was really helpful.

My problem was with the Read More link on the sidebar widget. I had the testimonial set to truncate at 150 characters, but the Read More link was showing up at the bottom on my site on the opposite side.

I had to change the .more-link code in the child theme style.css file. I’m sure it will vary with each child theme and how the link is formatted. I’m using Balance. If you’re using the same one, I can show you how we resolved it.

By the way, my site is if you’d like to see the widget in action.

@bbkahlich Did you still need help?

@chrisford, Can you please contact me directly via Thank you.

@all, please let me know how to make the purchase process simpler. I really want the experience to be good for you.

The position of the PayPal logo over the account log in makes it look like it’s asking for a PayPal user name and password.

Remove the PayPal logo or use it as the payment button at the bottom of the form.

Add instructions to where you currently have the PayPal logo. “Complete the customer information form below, then click Complete Purchase to go to PayPal, or <Log in> to your Aihrus account.”

Swap the required fields with the optional fields – move required fields under these instructions.

    [First Name]
    [Last Name]

Then add another instruction right under the required fields:

“<Create an account> to save your information here (optional).”

    [User Name]
    [Password again]

    [Agree to TOS]
[Complete Purchase] (or use a Pay with PayPal button here)

I’ve removed the website level register/login from the checkout screen. This should make purchase completion easier.

    Thank you for the feedback.

FYI – I’ve added @chrisford‘s suggestions to the Easy Digital Downloads checkout page improvements page at

Thanks for all of the feedback guys! We’re working to make the checkout page in EDD much better in the next version, which will greatly benefit people selling and buying with the plugin.

    Glad it helped!
