I am just commissioning a site and was testing Paypal payments. Somehow instead of a purchase from the site it became a payment to the purchaser. Having access to both accounts I was able to reverse the transaction but how is that even possible?

    Anyone else had this happen?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Howdy!

What PayPal payment plugin/option are you using?

When you say “instead of a purchase from the site it became a payment to the purchaser” you mean that instead of the customer paying you for the commission work, they ended up receiving payment?

If you’re using the included PayPal option within WooCommerce, you can follow the instructions here to set it up properly: https://docs.woothemes.com/document/paypal-standard/ the PayPal account that you connect needs to be the business owner’s account.

    I hope this helps!

I-m fairly sure it was because I was logged into the site paypal account and had temporaty emails in the setup. It seems fine now its setup properly and I don’t really want to test it.

That help link is good but the ? button next to the IPN option onscreen needs refreshing

As mentioned on the other thread, but wanted to post here also in case anyone searches and finds this helpful:

I just checked and the information in the ? here is still accurate for PayPal’s default account type: http://cld.wthms.co/bzaFvc

Keep in mind that PayPal does have more than 1 user interface, as they have some beta ones that they tested. But the vast majority of users are currently on the default interface. If/when PayPal changes the default interface, we’ll also adjust the information in the ? section.

    I hope this helps!
