Support » Fixing WordPress » Pulling content from different installations (same database) to show on one?

  • chickadee

    I’m wondering if someone could point me in the right direction!

    I have 3 separate WordPress installations, as subdomains of the same domain, all using the same database with different table prefixes.

    I install a plugin such as ‘favorite a post’ on 2 of the subdomains.

    Essentially I’m trying to make be like an account page where the lists of the favorited posts from and can be visible on the same page, like an aggregator or sorts, showing that users favorite posts from site1 and site2.

    I’m not exactly a WordPress pro, but I managed to have all three installations not only using the same database, but also sharing the users between the three by placing the following on the other installations’ wp-config files:

    $table_prefix = 'otherprefix_';
    define('CUSTOM_USER_TABLE', 'wp_users');
    define('CUSTOM_USER_META_TABLE', 'wp_usermeta');

    Can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this?

    (I had tried doing the Multisite thing but was having problems likely caused by shared hosting, so I’m not sure that’s an option at the moment. That said, would the multisite option even allow me to do this?? )

    Thanks so much in advance!
