publish button disappeared

for whatever reason, i just logged into my personal website that is running 2.8.4 and the publish button and save as draft buttons are GONE.

any ideas as to how to get them back?

i have already disabled all plugins and reactivated and no success?

my next attack will be to delete wp-admin folder and reupload … will this work?

FOUND IT ..

Somehow the column view, under Screen options was not selected and I have made sure it appears in 2 columns ..

I have the same problem. Where is the Screen options section located?

At the top of each Admin page.

Thanks. I see that on all page but the Create New Post page or the Add Page page. And I can’t publish, save, or even pick a category or change the publish date.

Did you try working through the list at the link above?

Yes. It is not theme specific, it’s not browser specific, there are no active plugins, and the permalinks are still set at default. Oh well.

I have followed this thread and my situation is getting worse. I had a similar situation with 2.8.4. I could not find the Publish button on Add New Post and no Update button on editing posts.

Well, I tried the advice to just do 1 column and go back to 2-columns and now everything is gone from the 2nd column. I have logged out and logged back in using IE8 and Firefox. EVerything has moved and staying at 1 column. Under the publish section, there is nothing, no button, nothing.

Something bad is happening here with this version. How can I salvage this situation? I am dying here. Help.

Hi, i solveed this problem.

Realised that i have reached my webhosting disk space quota.

When removed some files button appeared again 😉

Not mine though. I have got LOTS of space…

EDIT: Somehow weirdly solved it… First of all, I switched to 4-collumn view on the Dashboard, and switched on everything possible. Then I moved stuff around and closed the screen options. I have noticed there is a “Recent drafts” thing – I clicked one auto-saved (which I could not submit because of no “publish” button) and – THE SIDEBAR APPEARED! Hurrah!

This however does not appear with “New Post”, and the editor is still going all weird. (switching to “HTML” shows the visual controls, switching to “Visual” hides them… O.o)
