Publicize no longer publishes to social networks on edited or posts that have been updated.

For example, I may have a post scheduled for a few days out. The publish box shows that post being published to Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. If I make NO changes, when the post goes live, publicize works properly.

If I update the post, Publicize seems to become disabled (the “publish to” checkboxes become grayed out).

If I create a NEW post and either publish it or schedule it for later, the publish shows that the post will publish to the abovementioned social networks.

If I make a change, then update, then Publicize becomes disabled again.

    Any idea what’s going on?

    Thanks,

    Loyd Case

Publicize no longer publishes to social networks on edited or posts that have been updated.

It’s worth noting that Publicize will only be triggered for newly published posts. If a post is already published, it won’t trigger Publicize and the Publicize options will indeed be greyed out.

If the Publicize options become greyed out for a post that’s only been scheduled, but not published yet, that’s indeed a bug. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to reproduce the issue on my end. Here is what I’ve tried:

    1. Go to Posts > Add New, write a new post.
    2. Hit “Save Draft”
    3. Write a bit more, select a future publication date, and hit “Schedule”.
    4. Leave that post, close the tab.
    5. Open a new tab, go to Posts > All Posts
    6. Click on the saved scheduled post
    7. Make a few changes, click on “Update”

In my tests, the Publicize options remained available at every step.

If you follow different steps, could you walk me through them so I can try to reproduce on my end?

    Thanks!

So if I unpublish / unschedule (i.e., set the post to draft mode again), make changes, the republish, will Publicize do its thing?

    Thanks,

No. Since the post was published once, Publicize won’t be triggered again. You can only Publicize a post once, when it’s first published.
