Publicize – includes long text excerpt and coding

I set up autopost to Facebook and G+ and each had an excerpt of text in the post.

Facebook posts had a huge amount of regular text which was an excerpt from the post. I thought you could somehow set the amount of text? e.g. just one sentence and a link with the photo and link box below.

G+ also had quite a bit of text but not as much as the FB post.

Both had some html coding which is actually part of the wordpress post template (e.g. amount of line spacing etc).

Is there a way to access what Publicise does or doesn’t include etc, or is there a better plugin to control this?
