Publicize and images

Hello, first of all apologies is this is not in the right forum.
I have recently started a new blog on wordpress.org and have linked the posts up to Twitter and Facebook using the publicize option.
My first post successfully cross posted to both of these sites. However I found that the image pulled into the facebook post has been badly cropped, for example the post from the 3rd September on the timeline:

And seems to just use part of the image so it is not understandable.
It does this on Twitter as well:

Although it is less obvious there as it is in the “view summary” section.
Can I ask is there a way to switch of the image part of publicize or a way to fix this problem so it just scales down the image?
