Provide images with a plugin?

Hello,
I’m writing a plugin that should be installed with several images. At the moment the images are in wp-content/plugins/plugin-name/images/, but I am unable to access them even when entering an absolute URL to their location.
I guess images aren’t supposed to reside in there, so where should they go, and how would I make the script put them there when the plugin is installed?
