 * Hi guys,
 * I have an active WP forum with multiple admins that also work on the site. It
   looks as if from the users section that the other admins have the ability to
   delete my account – I am the owner of the site and would like to know if there
   is a way to protect the original admin/root admin from the possibility of being
   removed?
 * Thanks

 * The root admin account cannot be deleted – although the details can be changed
   by another admin. Why not demote the other users to Editor status?

 * Thanks for your reply. When my other admin logs in and goes to users – he has
   the option to delete, so I assumed clicking this would allow him to do so?
 * I trust my admins and he needs access at admin level, but there have been occasions
   on my previous sites where relationships have gone sour. This is why I am wanting
   to ensure I (author=1) cannot be deleted?

 * You can’t be deleted but the email address & password associated with the your
   profile could be changed. However, you could always use PhpMyadmin method to
   reset it again.

 * thanks esmi. just to understand – does that mean my email could be changed, then
   the account be deleted??

 * I do have nightly database backups which only I have access to – which is my
   current failsafe, but was wanting to setup more control.
    I have a capabilities
   plugin too but there’s an issue with any plugin I use stopping media uploads
   from working. :S

 * Any plugin? Even Hello Dolly or Akismet?

 * Most – I think Akismet is OK. But every plugin that sounds good to use (lightboxes,
   capabilities manager, featured articles, SEO – all prevent uploads from working
   within the media section. Gives a HTTP error.As soon as they’re deactived, uploads
   work again. Very odd.

 * Quite a few plugins are no longer being actively developed and a few others haven’t
   caught up with WP 3 yet. What version of PHP are you running?

 * It’s a shame there isn’t more moderation over plugins i.e. only those that are
   tested for WP3 are available to use etc; bit like the itunes app store! 🙂
 * Server is running PHP 5.2.9

 * > It’s a shame there isn’t more moderation over plugins
 * This may be something that is implemented longer term but it’s a big job. A new
   review system was added to the (much smaller) Theme Directory a few months back
   and I don’t think it’s at the point where the question of older themes can be
   tackled yet.
 * Your PHP version is fine, so I think all that’s left is trying to cherry pick
   the better plugins that are documented to work with WP3 (or 2.9 at the very least).

 * Thanks Esmi,
 * I’ve certainly tried to find a stable plugin but most appear to conflict in some
   way. The “Capabilities Manager” for instance is excellent as it gives much more
   control over user roles. WP is a bit limited in what roles you can assign, unless
   there’s a way to add more and setup their access?

 * hhmm esmi – going OT a bit, but I have just installed a fressh WP into a test
   database, and tried all these plugins and they work perfectly without affecting
   the uploads for media at all.
 * Is it possible that something could have become corrupt, causing it to fail when
   plugins activated?

 * Same set of plugins & same theme? Same server or could it be a difference in
   the server setup.
