Let me see if I get it correct. * I think what you are asking is can someone that becomes a member using Simple Membership “The role is set to subscriber”, can the role be changed in WordPress for the same user? If this is the question, the answer is no. * Either way, what ever you set up in WordPress user has nothing to do with Simple Membership user role in a level. Simple Membership works independently from WordPress users. However you can import all WordPress users into Simple Membership if that is what you want to do. You need to manually change the user rights in WordPress Users.
