I updated the original ticket to better reflect the issue, thank you!
Hi @jmslbam,
Thanks for choosing MPG!
Unfortunately, this is the default behaviour of the plugin. The source has to be specified in order for the other options to be modified and for the data to be fetched.
Thanks for understanding!
The source ís specified. Steps to reproduce:
- New landingpage
- Link a google spreadsheet to this config
- Save config.
- Then go to your /wp-content/mgp-upload/ and delete the “cached .csv file”.
- Re-visit (refresh) the landingpage settings to find it totally empty.
Officially the google spreadsheet is still correctly configured and “could be fetched again”.
Now I have to completly re-configure the configuration.

Hi @jmslbam,
Thank you for sharing more details on this and I can confirm that I’m able to replicate the behavior described, however, have you encountered this issue in any other way except from going to FTP and manually deleting the file? I’m just trying to understand the reason behind this and why someone would be doing this.
If a person goes and manually deletes the file then he can also create a new even blank file called the same name projectID.csv and that project will render again, just that this doesn’t sound like a use case users would face, in my opinion.
Let me know if you have more details on this why it is an issue and why users would go and delete the file manually.
Thanks!
Multiple reasons, but mainly I was:
- I pulled in a copy of the Database from production to test two new MPG projects. I didn’t want to do that on Production, but locally. But because the .csv file were in a separate
mpg-uploads folder I didn’t downloaded that. That habit is normaly just download the uploads folder 🙂
- debugging why my values wouldn’t refresh. See https://wordpress.org/support/topic/cached-urls-in-column-urls_array-stays-filled-with-old-values/#post-16474809
So, let’s call it an edge case, but mainly because of point 2.
