 * Hi everyone, I’m Duane! As Matt alluded to in his presentation at WordCamp San
Francisco, WordPress.org has been working on putting a profiles section up to
feature the members of the community and showcase some of their contributions
to WordPress. I’ve been helping with this effort, so if you see any glitches
or have any feedback, please reply to this posting here.
 * There’s still a bit of work to be done, but the first version is live at [http://profiles.wordpress.org](http://profiles.wordpress.org)
 * You can check out your own profile by going to [http://profiles.wordpress.org/yourname](http://profiles.wordpress.org/yourname)
 * You can also navigate there using various header links in WP.org.
 * Some of the features in this first version are:
 * 1) List of plugins developed by each member
    2) List of themes developed by member
   3) List of global WordPress.org activity, including forum postings, code commits,
   ideas, etc.
 * Some of the features still to come are:
 * 1) Geographical based searches for members
    2) Deeper integration with the WP
consultants list 3) Cookie sharing between WP.org and Profiles.wordpress.org
   4) Additional focus on community involvement of members
 * If you see any glitches or have any suggestions, please leave some feedback here.

 * Finally found the WP consultants list option. For those who are still looking,
   it’s under Edit Profile/Extras.
 * > If you see any glitches or have any suggestions
 * An ability to monitor new replies to forum threads that you’ve contributed to
is an **absolute must**. Otherwise we can’t follow-up on support issues properly.

 * +1 for the ability to monitor replies to forum threads.
 * Also, I edited my profile to add myself to the consultants list and my gravatar
disappeared…don’t see a way to add it back in the new profile. It’s still there
in the old profile view…now just trying to remember my password and/or what email
I used to create the account 😉
 * EDIT: Disregard the gravatar problem…I also changed my email address and didn’t
have that one added at the gravatar site…my dumb mistake.

 * Right now the consultant’s list is still primed using the manual method. So don’t
expect anything to happen when you add that field. But it’s just the first step
in getting a new version of the consultant’s list going, hopefully sometime in
   the near future.

 * The “View your profile” should take you to the forum profile page [http://wordpress.org/support/profile/xxxxx](http://wordpress.org/support/profile/xxxxx)
   not [http://profiles.wordpress.org/yyyyy](http://profiles.wordpress.org/yyyyy).
 * It’s that view that’s more useful when tracking down threads you’ve commented
   on.
 * Of course the long way, clicking on your member profile link takes you to [http://wordpress.org/support/profile/xxxxx](http://wordpress.org/support/profile/xxxxx)
but that isn’t available on every screen.

 * Is that “should” as in “it will”? Or “should” as in “ought to”? Only it’s going
   straight to [http://profiles.wordpress.org/xxx/](http://profiles.wordpress.org/xxx/)
   right now.

 * Oh dear – where are my manners? I should have added that I do like the integrated
profile and I can see the sense in bringing everything together. However, logging
in a few hours ago to see if there were any replies that needed following up
was a bit of a shock.. “Panic” wouldn’t be under-estimating the initial reaction
when I realised that I couldn’t highlight new replies.
 * I do appreciate the amount of work it must have taken to pull it all together
and organise it in a user-friendly fashion.

 * Okay…enough fun already…the “view your profile” link really does need to be directed
back to the forum profile page until the ability to monitor replies is added
   to the new page.

 * Yep’. What he (they) said. It took me a bit figure out how to find a familiar
method of checking for any recent replies. And I did notice double entries in
the recent activity section of my new profile page. (pretty darn cool, just the
same!) I figured it out okay after a minute, but it seems like kind of a convoluted
way of monitoring replies for the moment.
 * Change is GOOD!

 * The method for tracking replies to threads you’ve participated in should, in
my opinion, be separated completely from the profile. The idea is to have a single
profile that encompasses all activity across all sites, forums, etc.
 * I think each forum should have a really elegant way for keeping up with conversations
separate from its profile — this would make an excellent core bbPress improvement
   actually.

   to login again anyway.

 * As long as there’s a link to the threads (that makes the job easier), then what
that link is called, is not of importance, but how about “My Threads”.
