# Profile Email is wrong

 * Newbie issue.
 * I just registered with wordpress.org. When I registered, I was automatically 
   given what I **thought** was my email address as a user name…but actually that
   email address is missing a letter.
 * My email is [shawnabarr@sbcglobal.net](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/profile-email-is-wrong/shawnabarr@sbcglobal.net?output_format=md),
   and I as issued [shawnabarr@sbcgloba.net](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/profile-email-is-wrong/shawnabarr@sbcgloba.net?output_format=md).
 * I didn’t notice.
 * So I tried to change it in the Profile settings, but it is telling me that email
   address is registered already.
 * I had forgotton that I have registerd with WordPress.org 4 years ago. Username
   for that account is ShawnaB, and my correct email address is apparently already
   registered to that account.
 * Can anything be done to correct this?

 * This sounds like it’s about wordpress.COM sites and accounts, not self-hosted
   wordpress sites, for which wordpress.org is the hub for forums, documentation,
   etc.
 * Due to the differences between the free hosted blogs offered at wordpress.com
   and the self-hosted and self-installed version of WordPress supported here, you
   should probably ask [WordPress.com Support](http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/)
   instead.
