 * I’m setting up a few products and just wanted to ask: when is it better to use
   a variable product instead of simple products with categories?

 * I can understand your concern, let me clarify this.
 * In general, a **simple product** works best when you’re selling a single item
   without any options for example, a product that has one price, one SKU, and no
   choices for the customer. You can still group these products using categories,
   but categories are only for organizing and displaying products, not for letting
   customers choose between options.
 * A **variable product**, on the other hand, is the better choice when the same
   product comes in different options like size, color, or style. This is especially
   important if those options affect things like price, stock, or SKU. Instead of
   creating separate products for each variation, you keep everything under one 
   product and let the customer select what they want.
 * A simple way to think about it is: categories help customers find products, while
   variations help them choose between options of the same product.
