• Hello all,

I have a company and am starting my blog to feature products I am considering adding to my collection. These are all products I love and will say great things about, but I want feedback from my customers. Issue is, is this legal? I know it’s not legal to use someone’s picture, but if I’m writing a review about a company and use their picture with full disclosure and for review purposes is it legal then?

I see tons of product review sites and I want to know how they do it legally without emailing EVERY SINGLE company.

Please note: I am not reviewing any product to make a profit, only to showcase what I would like to add and gain feedback.

    Thank you!

Whenever anyone has a legal question, you really do not want to ask the Internet. 😉

When in doubt consult a lawyer.

I know but I can’t afford a lawyer… Thank you for your help though.

I know it’s not legal to use someone’s picture, but if I’m writing a review about a company

Sounds like you need to contact each company and get individual feedback from them about this legality.

Dang… That’s what I was worried about. I’ve messaged so many but none have gotten back to me so I was trying to find a way around that…
    thanks 🙂

You can write about ANY company you want. My day time job is Journalist. You might not be.

You can write about your experience with WordPress, you couldn’t write a post that Matt Mullenweg is corrupt because he is only putting features people who pay him have requested.

    See the difference?

If you are going to write about a product…lets say a Microsoft keyboard (the one I am typing this with)…You would NOT take the photo from Microsoft or whatever store’s website you got it from. You buy the keyboard then take a photo of the keyboard you bought. You don’t need to ask permission from Microsoft (you can’t include the microsoft logo either).

    Do you understand?

If you purchase a product…you can take a photo and review it all you want.

I wrote a review on a WordCamp, I met Matt Mullenweg there, took a photo or two, I used my own photo for the article.
