Product Loads Normally, Then Red X on First Color/Size Swatch

Just noticed this recently, the product loads fine, then as soon as you select a color or size, the first color or size listed in the List are marked as disabled.
The products are available, and it seems to even let you purchase the color/size combination, but for some reason shows a red X over some of the colors and sizes.
Seems to affect some, but not all products in my shop.

@pluginswoo thanks for you reply. In my case, the problem is not that the variant is displayed when it has no stock, but that a red cross is displayed when there is stock. It seems to appear most of the time on the first variant.
