On my WooCommerce single product pages, the product images don’t load on the first page visit (gallery area is blank). They appear only after refreshing the page. However, if I open the product page in a new window from the shop page, the images load correctly on the first try.
I’m using the default WooCommerce product page template, not a custom Elementor template, but I am using Elementor with Hello Theme. Any ideas on what could cause this or how to fix it?
You can see the issue here, charge one product, the gallery image will not show. If it’s showing, go back to the previous page and then come back to the product page, and you will see that the gallery image is not showing. Reload the page and the gallery image will show.
Thanks for your help!

Welcome to the WooCommerce forum, and thanks for reaching out! I understand how frustrating it can be when your product images don’t load properly on first page visits, especially when it works after a refresh. That kind of inconsistency can really impact your customers’ experience.
Could you let us know when you started noticing this behavior? For example, did this begin after a theme or plugin update, or is this a brand-new store setup?
In the meantime, I recommend clearing your browser cache and testing the page again, or try using an incognito/private browser window to rule out any local caching issues. Also, within your WordPress dashboard, you can go to WooCommerce → Status → Tools, then try using:
Regenerate product lookup tables
Clear template cache
Recount terms
These tools can help ensure WooCommerce data is synced properly and that your image data isn’t being delayed or cached incorrectly.
Let us know how it goes or if you’re still seeing the issue, we’re here to help!
Thanks so much for sharing the video and for clearing your Chrome cache before testing, I really appreciate your effort in helping us understand the issue more clearly.
From the video, I can see that when you first click a product from the category page, the images load correctly. However, when you return to the category page using your browser’s back button and then click on the same product again, the product image doesn’t show until the page is refreshed manually.
That’s definitely unusual and seems to differ from what I’m seeing on my end. I tested the same flow using Chrome as well, navigating from the category page to the product and back, and the images displayed properly each time.
Since this appears to be happening only on your side, it might be related to how your specific browser or internet connection is caching the page content. To help narrow this down further, could you try the following?
Open your site in incognito/private browsing mode and repeat the same steps.
Test the same flow in a different browser (like Firefox, Safari, or Edge) and see if the issue persists.
This will help determine if the problem is isolated to a specific browser, caching layer, or internet issue. Let me know what you find, and we’ll take it from there!
Thanks for getting back to us and for sharing your test results.
I did some tests, and the issue occurs only on Google Chrome, both in Private mode and regular mode. There is no problem on Safari.
That’s helpful to know. I tried replicating the issue in Chrome on my end using the steps in your video, but everything worked normally here—I wasn’t able to reproduce the same behavior.
Since the issue only happens in Chrome on your side, this does point to something local—likely a browser caching or extension-related issue. Just to be sure, have you made any changes since your last message that may have fixed things?
If not, here are a couple of things to try next:
If you’re using any caching plugins, try deactivating them temporarily and see if that changes anything.
Since you’re using Elementor, it’s worth disabling its built-in cache (under Elementor → Tools → Regenerate CSS & Data) to test as well.
Give those a try and let us know how it goes—we’ll be here if the issue sticks around.
I tried to deactivate caching plugins and also regenerate CSS & Data but didn’t work. The same issue persists. I also tried on another computer, from which the website has never been launched (from a colleague) and the same issue is appearing. Check the video just there.
Can you please retry on your side because the bug still show on all computers I tried on Google Chrome. However, the issue is not showing on Safari.
Thank you for sharing all the details. It’s clear you’ve done a lot to troubleshoot this, and I really appreciate the effort you’ve put in so far!
I have tried again, but I could not replicate the issue on my end. It’s really near impossible to troubleshoot an issue that we can not replicate on our end.
That said, could you please try out some other Chromium browser, such as Brave or Edge, and see if the issue persists?
