Product Image not showing when Variable Product is selected

I have seen others have had this issue but i can’t quite solve my issue.

The Product Image not showing on the product when Variable Product is selected. you can still click the space where the image should be and it opens just fine in the light box.

I have tried disabling all plugins, so i dont believe it to be a conflict. I just updated wordpress to 4.7 hoping that would help but it hasn’t.

any help would be great!
