Hi, I keep looking in the forum for an answer but the answers I find are either old (outdated) or they just talk about thumbnails.

In the product page, the product images (and the thumbnails) keep getting cropped to fit in the “product image area”. I want the image to be shown as full, and if there is any empty space on the sides, let there be some empty white space for example.

How can I possible make it to show the full product image regardless of the actual image dimensions? (the same of course applies to the respective thumbnails)

    Thank you in advance,
    Butch

  • Hello,

I want the image to be shown as full

Can you go to Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Images, and select “Uncropped.”

if there is any empty space on the sides, let there be some empty white space for example.

If you’d like to position your image in a certain way (e.g. show image content in the middle), I’d recommend editing your images before uploading to your site.

For more info on image size settings, please check this documentation:

    Thank you for your answer.

I have WordPress 5.8.1 and the section you are referring to (Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Product Images) , does not exist (maybe I should have an older or newer version?) , because once you go to the WooCommerce, my options are “general”, “product archives”, and “single product”. I assume I should find this option in the “single product” but I don’t see it.

As far as editing the images before uploading them, this is what I do until now, but I honestly find it hard to believe that there is no easy workaround to just upload any image and be able to show the full image in the single product page, without unnecessary fitting.

I have also read the “fixing blurry product images” and I don’t think there is anything in there to help me.

Thank you again for your answer, but unfortunately the issue remains

    Hi @butchbotch,

It seems that you’re using the Blocksy theme.

I went ahead and previewed the theme and indeed, it seems that they do not offer the option to customize product image sizes through the customizer, meaning they’ve hardcoded them.

Since the display aspect of these images on your product page is controlled majorly by your theme, I would recommend getting in touch directly with the theme authors. Here’s their support forum – https://wordpress.org/support/theme/blocksy/.

    I hope this helps.
    Thanks.

    Thank you so much!

I would have never thought it was the theme’s issue.

I contacted them now. It turns out I am bit blind and in the Appearance > Customize > WooCommerce > Single Product > Gallery Images, there is the option to show the full image. However, that can make some images show incredibly long, which is definitely not desirable, so I will try somehow to set a max-height with custom css if I can. Otherwise the only solution would be to edit every image to fit nicely.

Again, thank you so much for your help!
    Have a nice day!

Good to hear that you’ll be able to proceed from here!

If you have any other questions, I recommend creating a new thread.
