If I understand correctly, you can add the Product Category
widget to your Storefront theme sidebar, by going to Customizer>> Widgets>> Sidebar and then add the Product Category widget.

no not exactly, I have over 200 sub categories so when i do that it fills the whole sidebar and the folder design does not look that good. I only want it to show the subcategories of the page being viewed. Is there a plugin for what i am trying to do?

If I understand what you are wanting to do correctly I believe that the WooCommerce Product Search would work. This plugin has a widget called Product Filter Categories.

Using the Parent term
will limit the terms displayed to children of the one indicated. The token {current} can be used to limit it to children of the current term.
