• Hi,

I would like to do a proper product catalogue / list on my website and require sorting by price / name etc… Do you guys recommend a particular plugin?

I am currently using eCommerce Product Catalogue but I cannot see certain features that I require. Am not sure whether the full features are found in the premium version, if yes I will be willing to buy it.

    Any comments / suggestions please?

    Thanks,
    DnM

  • Hi @dnmmalta,

eCommerce Product Catalog has sorting functionality. You can set a default sorting in Products > Settings or show a sorting drop-down with sorting widget.

You can also sort products by price or by any attribute. Basically by any field 🙂

What other features do you need?

    Hi @ndre,

I want my clients to do the sorting themselves. I need something similar to this:
    http://www.expansys.com/mobile-phones/

    That is as an example.

I also want the items listed in the format similar to that website. Can you please help?

    Regards,

This is exactly what the sorting widget does in eCommerce Product Catalog. You can find it on your WordPress widgets admin screen.

Such format can be also chosen in Products > Settings > Catalog Design. The Classic Grid option is exactly what you are looking for.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Are certain options available in the premium version?

Still can’t get the sorting widget to work…. Am getting the below error:

Sort widget is disabled with simple theme integration. Please see Theme Integration Guide to enable product sort widget.

The sorting widget is available in the free version.

It looks like you are using the simple mode which doesn’t support the widget. You can fix it by going to Products > Settings and click the Restart Integration Wizard.

You can also switch to the Advanced Integration there.

As soon as you enable the Advanced Mode you will be able to use the widget.

    Hi @ndre,

Sorry for the very late reply. I was away for a bit and it has took me some time to get back in schedule. Basically I have added the widgets as “Products Filter Bar” but I still cannot make it to work.

The advanced integration has been done but the sorting still doesn’t show up. Any more ideas please?

    Hi,

Can you please confirm that you have in Products > Settings the integration mode set to advanced? And the sort widget still says that it is disabled?

    Hi @ndre,

The integration mode is set to advanced. I have nothing to show that the sorting widget is disabled. I did set it up from Appearance -> Widgets.

    Thank you for the information.

Can you please provide a URL of your product listing where the sorting drop down should show up?

this is one of the urls where the sorting should show up:

apologies for the mess that the website is in but I am fixing it at the moment

    Hi @ndre,

Sorry the link didn’t show up. Below is the link:

    smartphones & tablets

Thank you. As I can see you are using shortcode there. The filters bar doesn’t show by default when you are using shortcode. It shows up by default only on automatic product listing page. Your is located here: http://dnmmalta.com/products-2/

If you want to show it with a shortcode please set the sort attribute to 1. Like this:

    [show_products sort="1"]

    Hi @ndre,

Thanks for your reply, that is much better now.

How can I sort by price lowest first or price highest first?

How can I set an automatic product listing page?

Is there any particular way to know commands for shortcodes?

The current [show_products sort=”1″] shows all categories. Anyway to make it show only one?

    Thanks.

You can select your product listing page in catalog settings.

Please see the docs here: https://implecode.com/docs/ecommerce-product-catalog/product-shortcodes/

You will find all the information there.

    Hi @ndre,

If I just choose the product listing page only as I did below, there will not be a drop down menu when I hoover on products, is there any way to fix that?:
    products page

Also is there any way to sort by price lowest first or price highest first?

    Thanks
