Product Catalog but no eCommerce.. is there such a plugin?

    Hi all,

    I’m kind of stumped as to what exactly to search for. I tried product catalog, dynamic content, etc. not really able to see a plugin that would work from the gynormous plugin list on wp.

    Basically, I started a wp blog where I feature travel deals from other sites (both affiliate and non-affiliate).

    I am trying to make the site a little more admin data entry friendly (me), as well as more attractive to visitors by having a uniform look.

    Something like:

    Here are our top deals of the day:

    title:
    image/s:
    Description:
    (maybe custom field)
    Link (outgoing)

    I don’t need a shopping cart or all the bells and whistles that come with it. Just want to be able to have a data entry interface and then pull these items onto my posts – and these would change dynamically if I make changes in the “deals”/products data entry interface.

    Would LOVE if any of you can point me in the right direction.

    You can use Shopp for that. Even though it is a plugin with all the bells and whistles, it has a setting to just turn off the shopping cart/checkout/shipping/taxes, etc. Then you can use it as just a catalog. The beauty of it is… if you ever decide to start selling you’re own products later, you can just turn the shopping cart part on and setup your payment processor, etc.

    In terms of the travel links, you’d probably need to customize the templates a bit so they will show the link where you want them. In Shopp at least you’d probably want to use product specs/details to store the link. Then you’d want some template code to look for that spec/detail and render it as a link/button or whatever.
