# Problems with User settings

 * I’ve looked everywhere and it would seem I’m the only one with this problem.
 * Basically, I keep getting new users, and these new users are always been assigned“
   Editor” role.
 * Now I’ve tried turning it of so no one can create an account by going to Settings
   >> General >> And unticking the “Anyone can register” box but I still get new
   users within minutes – all assigned with the “Editor” role.
 * I’ve also tried putting the “New Default User Role” to subscriber but once again…
   New users get assigned “Editor” role.
 * Hopefully someone can help as I don’t know how to fix this.

    Please check your installed plugins/or custom code, may be 
   there is any script that changes wordpress’s default action. Or you can read 
   more about user roles [http://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities](http://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities),
   according to Mr. Krishna.

 * Have you tried temporarily renaming the `wp-content/plugins` folder and see if
   you still get those user signups?

 * Thanks guys – your advice has helped me locate the problem.
 * It turned out to be a paid plugin. I’ve turned it off anyway and I’ve emailed
   the plugin vendor.
