# Problems with tar.gz

 * Hello,
 * When the backup arrives as the tar.gz compression it sometimes works, sometimes
   does not. When it does not, it tries 3 times then creates a tiny archive (4MB
   instead of 100MB).
 * What’s the problem and the way to fix this?
 * Here’s the log (French unfortunately):

 * Regarde dans paramètres et coche Utiliser PHP zip si disponible. Vois ci cela
   change quelques chose. Sinon tu dois peut etre avoir un probleme de configuration
   de ton fichier php.ini

 * Agreed. Basically sireneweb said to use ZIP instead or look into php.ini.
 * Well I did try ZIP and I get the same erratic behavior: sometime it works first
   time, sometimes after 2 or 3 trials. But at least with ZIP I don’t seem to be
   getting a partial archive as I was getting with tar.gz.

 * is dedicated server ? can you use yum via ssh ?

 * maybe you can check log from your domain name error.log to tcheck if you have
   a problem with your php configuration
