Support » Plugin: BackUpWordPress » Problems with subfolder install

  • When I first installed the plugin it worked fairly well. The only real problem was the settings screen. On the settings screen if you get a simple page that doesn’t look like anything special and you adjust the settings they won’t “take”. Reload the page because you should get a dialog. If you get a dialog and change the settings it works. I had the problem on IE, Chrome, and Firefox. Not really a big problem once you know.

The bigger issue was I had my WordPress installation in a subfolder off the root, for example root/mywpinstall. When I changed the site URL so users could get to the website without including the subfolder I couldn’t get the backup to work – even after deactivating, uninstalling, and reinstalling.

I emailed the support but didn’t hear anything back, although it’s only been 3 days. Nevertheless I switched to UpdraftPlus and haven’t had any issues.

If it wasn’t for the subfolder issue I would have continued using the plugin – it was simple and did everything I needed it to do.
