 * Now I am using the previous version of the plugin. If it will be necessary, I
   can install the latest version.

 * i’m having the same problem, using unmodified theme “baskerville” [https://wordpress.org/themes/baskerville/](https://wordpress.org/themes/baskerville/)
 * with previous verison i had the problem of featured images actually being resized
   to 9999px height though this should make them dynamically resize, after the update
   all those featured images “disappeared”.
 * well they didn’t really – as you explained – you’re using a transparent placeholder
   now, but from what i see the problem now is this placeholder being 1x1px..
 * `<img width="1" height="1" alt="NelioEFI's Placeholder" class="attachment-post-
   thumbnail wp-post-image" src="http://holzer-wein.at/wp-content/uploads/nelioefi-

 * thankful for any hints..

 * Hi guys!
 * I’ve updated a new version (1.3.1) which, I believe, fixes the issues this new
   version introduced.
 * [@livsy](https://wordpress.org/support/users/livsy/), can you please tell me
   which theme you’re using? It’d be great if you could send me a copy of the theme,
   along with your configuration, so that I can test things locally.
 * [@markusk](https://wordpress.org/support/users/markusk/), you were absolutely
   right! The transparent placeholder didn’t have some relevant metainformation
   and, as a result, the resulting size was just 1x1px. Version 1.3.1 solves that
   issue, now.
 * [@kalanikochs](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kalanikochs/), I already answered
   you in your own thread. Your issue should be fixed too.
 * I’m sorry for the inconveniences this update might have caused you! I completely
   changed how the plugin works and… well, there were some corner cases I wasn’t
   expecting 😛 Luckily, you could always revert to the previous version 🙂
 * Let me know how it works now!

 * thanks david, looks good – or better at least 😉
 * i had to de/reactivate the plugin to get it working fwiw..
 * one thing – with a width of 500px in my layout i seem to get a fixed height of
   375 now.. i assume it’s because your placeholder got a certain fixed AR?
 * but i would hope to get the original, uncropped aspect ratio of the image, so
   if it was 5:8 (portrait) it should be just like that. the same for very narrow
   images, right now they get upscaled to fill the 375px height (and cropped at
   the sides).. fwiw, it works with local featured images (again, theme baskerville)
 * any chance this could work with your current approach?

 * Hi markusk,
 * I’m glad to know that things work better, now.
 * Regarding the aspect ratio issue, you’re absolutely right. This is how things
   work right now:
    1. You define an external featured image
    2. NelioEFI assigns a regular WordPress featured image to your post, which is an
       image whose aspect ratio is 4:3, I think.
    3. The regular WordPress featured image is the one that establishes the final size
       of the image. It’s a transparent “placeholder”.
    4. The actual external featured image (the one we set in 1) is then added, using
       JavaScript, to the regular WordPress feat. image using the background CSS property.
    5. Since the actual external feat. image and the regular WordPress feat. image
       have (too) different aspect ratios, the resulting effect is not as good as it
       could be.
 * A possible solution would be to offer you a selector with a few options, where
   you can specify the “closest” aspect ratio of the external featured image (such
   as 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 9:16).
 * As soon as I have some more spare time, I will address this and publish a new
   version.

 * fully understand the complicated matter of this 😉 – it’s great to have it working
   that far anyways, looking forward to any improvement.. will instruct my teammates
   to use local images for now if they got portrait or exotic ARs..
 * thanks, markus.

 * Hi Livsy,
 * Thank you very much for sharing your theme. It’s been a complicated week; I wanted
   to improve the plugin and, in the end, a lot of issues appeared. Hopefully, the
   newest version (which is much more powerful than I originally intended) should
   fix them all!
 * Please, try installing version 1.3.2 and verify it actually works. In order to
   do that, go to Media » NelioEFI and click on “Regenerate EFI Attachments” right
   after you’ve installed it. This will create virtual attachments for all the posts
   that use an external featured images, which is necessary for making them visible
   in your frontend.
 * Needless to say, you should backup your database and your `wp-content/uploads`
   folder before trying out new plugins.
 * Let me know if this solved your issues!
 * Best,

 * Hi David!
 * It was a long procedure, ~900 posts with thumbnail made by your plugin. Worth
   it!
 * Everything is working perfectly now!
 * Nelio EFI is one of the most interesting and useful plugins for WordPress. And
   Nelio support is the best!
 * Thank you, David!

 * Too early for celebration…
    After making a post plugin stopped working properly.
   Page loading speed is about one minute. I deactivated a plugin and activated
   it after that. Site is working fine now, but after making a post all thumbnails
   become broken.
 * Maybe it is better for me to use the previous version?
