I am having great difficulty getting this WordPress installation going and I need help please.

I have downloaded all of wp-content from one folder, and uploaded this to another. Created a new database. Exported all SQL data from old database, changed all references of old site URL to new one in .SQL file and then imported all.

Before removing default tables, the site shows the new installation with the hello world post etc.. but when I remove tables and import the existing data, I get 500 internal server error and cant seem to find anything wrong.

That doesn’t really help me, i’ve probably migrated more sites than you’ve had hot dinners 🙂

The problem is that because it is on windows server, I dont know if the SQL export/import isn’t working the same, the wordpress installation is fine until I then import the tables from the old database, then comes the server errors.

what are you doing using a text editor to edit the database file?

I would suspect that as your problem
