Support » Everything else WordPress » Problems with media library drag and drop in Chrome v. 40

  • I have done a lot of searching and cannot find a solution to my problem. I am hoping that someone here can help.

    I have WordPress v. 4.1 and am using Chrome v. 40.0.2214.91 m on Windows 8.1.

When posting pictures/creating a gallery, I should be able to drag and drop my images to reorganize them, but for some reason cannot. I am able to do it in Firefox 35.0, so I am pretty sure the problem is with Chrome.

I am hoping that someone else had this issue and resolved it.

Thanks in advance for ANY help that can be offered.

  • Sorry to hear about this. Have you tried incognito mode of Chrome? If that works, I would suspect a browser extension to be at fault. Try incognito mode or disable extensions and try again. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the response Mike.

I tried both incognito mode and disabling all extensions without success.

I know in Windows Explorer there is a setting that can be adjusted to specify how many pixels it takes to drag something before you can actually move it… do you know if there is a similar setting in Chrome or WordPress? I have no problems dragging and dropping in other Windows apps including Firefox.

I am just grasping at straws here.

Any other advice you or anyone could provide is MOST appreciated!

Something makes me think its not just a Chrome issue but a Chrome plus a plugin issue maybe. I would even try disabling plugins or switching themes to see if that helps.
