• Hi all,

I’m having a perplexing problem with all of my posts not indexing in Google after a significant amount of time. (Approximately 3/4 weeks). It seems that all of my pages have been indexed as I can see through Google Webmaster Tools but none of my posts seem to be indexed.

I’ve updated my sitemap.xml and manually added it to GWT. I have no manual action warnings and nothing seems to be amiss (apart from the non-indexed posts). I prefer not to build any backlinks to this site as I find that it ranks fine for me without the need for them.

I’m by no means an expert in WordPress but I’ve set up a few sites with WordPress over the years and this is the first one I’m having trouble with indexing.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I’d be really appreciative as I’ve searched on these forums and other forums for the answer but come up blank so far.

    The site is http://www.outdoorleisure101.com.

It had a few pages and posts on it from over 1 year ago and they were all indexed fine but I deleted the whole lot and gave the domain a 2 month breathing time before starting again. As far as I am aware all of the old pages and posts have been de-indexed.

    Thanks in advance,

    Ryan

  • Your site in indexed. This query told me that there’s 97 pages in Googles index, so you don’t have aproblem there.

Why do you think that the site isn’t indexed?

    Hi Catacaustic,

    Thanks for taking a look.

The vast majority of those indexed pages are just the tag and category pages rather than single posts. On the Google Webmaster Tools it says that only 10 of the 33 URLs are indexed and after doing a search query site:outdoorleisure101.com

Most of the first page are my initial pages that were indexed fine. It’s just the posts that are not indexing.

    Most have the URLs:

    http://www.outdoorleisure101.com/tag/

    or

    http://www.outdoorleisure101.com/category

rather than my single post pages such as:
    http://www.outdoorleisure101.com/coleman-red-canyon-tent-review-the-best-family-camping-tent/

It’s most likely that google is reacting after your sites undergone a major change. They do that, and they are quite happy to publicly say that they do that.

As with most SEO, this is all about patience. Google doesn’t index everything instantly unless you’re one of their very high-priority sites, and there’s not many of those around. For our “normal” sites it can take a while to get pages indexed no matter how hard we try to get them in faster. If your sites being indexed, the pages will get indexed, but you can’t epxect it to happen on your time frame – well, not until you can buy Google and get them to rank your site first. 😉

Thanks for the fast response again Catacaustic.

I suspected it would be that but I’d hoped it would have been a mistake on my part that I could rectify on my terms.

I’ll just have to wait for Google. I’ll count my penny jar to see if I have enough money to buy Google 🙂
