    Hello there,

    I would appreciate some help.

Since yesterday (well, I observed it yesterday…might be around for some time), I am getting the extra whitespace warning in Updraft Plus.

I am following the suggestions from the page you provided.

I have already deactivated all plugins except UpdraftPlus, but this did not help. Then I checked the wp-config.php and found an empty line at the end. I removed the empty line but still the warning is there (There are lots of empty lines in between the wp-config.php…but this is wordpress core…should I remove them as well???).

I have recently changed my theme from a classical to a FSE theme (Twenty-Twentyfour, which is a WP standard theme). This caused major rework, and I don’t want to go back to the old one. Yesterday, I wanted to do the first backup after changing the theme and that’s when I saw the warning. My Live site was also moved to theme TT4 and does NOT experience this problem!

    My questions:

Do you have any suggestions where I could look into next in order to trace the problem?

Does the whitespace problem occur only with space/line feeds at the beginning/end of files or also anywhere in between (as mentioned above, lots of core wordpress files have empty lines in between…)?

Could the problem also be related to empty blocks in the block editor (e.g. in templates, patterns, etc)?

In the meantime/until I found the problem: I have configured Google Drive cloud storage as destination for the backup files. Are the files on the cloud storage also potentially corrupted? Or could I still do a restore from the cloud storage if necessary (this is not addressed on the page above)?

Thank you very much in advance

    Hi There,

meanwhile I have tracked the whitespace problem to the media.php and corrected it. Therefore, I don’t need any more help with diagnosing the root cause. But the question about the backup files on Google Drive and the possibility to restore from there is still valid (in case the problem will occur again in the future). Thank you!

Can you post your backup log using a tool such as pastebin.com so we can check it?

Hi, thanks for looking into it. I have uploaded the log file to google drive (it should be possible for you to access it). Please note that this log was created after I corrected the problem.

    Thanks
