Problems with background overlapping into content

Hi there!

I have a problem with my background overlapping with content. My background is actually just two columns that fit on the left and right hand side respectively, while my core content sits in the middle.

This is fine when the window is fullscreen as everythinghas their designated area with no overlap, but when dealing with smaller windows or tablets the background doesn’t scale and sometimes overlaps with the centre content looking incredibly messy.

Is their a way to stop this happening (either by making sure it doesn’t overlap, or keeping it so that everything scales down at the same time)?
