I have been trying for ages now to move my wordpress.com blog to wordpress.org. I followed the wiki how on how to transfer it. I signed up for my webhosting service through bluehost and followed the installation of wordpress. However, whenever I go to log in to the wordpress admin page, it just points me back to wordpress.com. I am so beyond frustrated. I really don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. What steps am I missing??

Help please! I feel I’ve just wasted my money.

However, whenever I go to log in to the wordpress admin page, it just points me back to wordpress.com.

That could happen if the references to the old URL remain. What steps did you use to migrate? If you can share that then that will help others suggest a solution that may work for you.

How would I go about doing that?

I went on blue host and transferred my domain to bluehost.
I exported my WordPress.com blog to my computer as an xml file.
I went to install WordPress in bluehost. It creates the site of course but the web address is the same so when I go to it it’s still WordPress.com.
I changed the name servers on my WordPress.com site to point to bluehost.
I don’t know what steps I’m missing. I tried to follow the bluehost steps to migrate the website and it just doesn’t make any sense to me. I may not be cut out for doing this.
