 * I had installed wordpress on the http version of my blog site ([http://www.cashingtowealth.com](http://www.cashingtowealth.com))

   Later, I got a SSL certificate use Let’s Encrypt, and both the http & https version
   were working well (for the site as well as the wordpress dashboard). Yesterday
   I got Cloudfare for my site and all of a sudden my https version started having
   problems. I could not access the WP dashboard and the site was not loading properly.
   Today I changed the Let’s Encrypt settings to force https, and the https version
   started working gain. Now my question is, 1. what could be the issue when I was
   not able the https version and 2. Do I need to re install wordpress for the https
   version of my site? If yes, will my data (posts, installed plugins, customizations
   etc) still be there or will I have to redo them?

 * Hello!
 * I can’t really help you with proper info regarding question nr. 1, especially
   because I never used Cloudfare. I’ll let someone else handle that, if they know.
 * As for nr 2. No, you don’t need to reinstall WordPress for the HTTPS version.
   You just need to set HTTPS in your Settings and then perform a redirect from
   HTTP to HTTPS, so you won’t basically have 2 websites, a duplicate.
 * 1. Backup your site;
 * 2. Do this – [https://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/#implementing-https-for-wordpress](https://make.wordpress.org/support/user-manual/web-publishing/https-for-wordpress/#implementing-https-for-wordpress).
   Ignore the advanced parts.
 * 3. Access your .htaccess file through your File Manager from your hosting control
   panel (usually cPanel), or by using a 3rd party software, like FileZilla – [https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_FileZilla](https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_FileZilla).
   The file should be in your root folder, `public_html`.
 * 4. I’ve noticed you’re on Siteground, so you’ll have to add this code in .htaccess,
   before `#BEGIN WordPress` – [https://www.siteground.com/kb/how-to-force-ssl-with-htaccess/](https://www.siteground.com/kb/how-to-force-ssl-with-htaccess/)
 * Add `www` to your domain when you replace _[https://yourdomain.com](https://yourdomain.com)_
   in the code.
 * 5. Use this to fix the insecure / mixed content warnings in browsers – [https://wordpress.org/plugins/ssl-insecure-content-fixer/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/ssl-insecure-content-fixer/)
 * I don’t recommend using HTTPS redirection plugins. They mess things up a lot
   of times.

 * To use SSL with Cloudflare, install these two helper plugins…
 * [https://wordpress.org/plugins/cloudflare/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/cloudflare/)

   [https://wordpress.org/plugins/cloudflare-flexible-ssl/](https://wordpress.org/plugins/cloudflare-flexible-ssl/)
 * The Cloudflare Flexible SSL plugin will fix redirect problems when using CloudFlare
   with WordPress.
 * Also, in your CloudFlare account turn on the Automatic HTTPS Rewrites feature.
 * And in today’s world, you may as well force everyone to go to the https version
   of your web site. So in the Settings > General menu of your WordPress site, set
   the WordPress and SIte addresses to the https URL of your web site. Then in CloudFlare
   add a new page rule at the top of your page rule list to do an https redirect.

 * Thanks for response. I wont be needing the flexible SSL plugin since I am using
   Full SSL. However, I have added the page rule to do https redirect.
