I have managed to upload wordpress and get everything working, but ONLY when I upload it as a blog that is part of a normal www. site – but I simply cannot do it so that wordpress is the main and only site .
I am using a mixture of frontpage and cpanel. I have done the database correctly I believe, as wordpress tells me the following :
Can’t select database
We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the miranda8_linda6 database.
Are you sure it exists?
On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?
Help with this would be very much appreciated as I have been trying for 2 complete days.
I notice that in a video tutorial , in the shots showing the ftp client it shows the public_html folder – but in (my) frontpage , it never shows that. I just have folders for images, etc. and then any html pages that I have. As I use Frontpage, I had to download ‘Frontpage extensions’ from cpanel and I do not ‘ftp’ since then, but ‘html’ (which is what you MUST do evidently if you use Frontpage extensions). Could this have anything to do with it? and if so, how can I get round it?
best wishes and many thanks in advance,
