    Hello all,

I am a beginner user of WordPress for a static website. Today I tried to update the header of the site but for some reason when I preview the site 2 or 3 of the pages still have the old header. Any thoughts?

Not sure if this is related but thought I should provide it as well...I was speaking with an SEO company earlier this week and they sent me a screenshot of my home page showing a link to Amazon books near the header, which tells me somehow someone got into my site??? I do not see this on my computer but apparently other individuals can see the ad.

    Thanks!

Are you seeing this? I am not.

Also, be "wary of strangers offering gifts". Have you confirmed others can see the ad? (besides that one noted?)

What you really should do is update WP. New versions have had security patches applied, which hacks reverse engineer to break into sites running old versions.

Can you share the screenshot of what others see? (check from another ip address)?

yeah that doesn't sound very good

those Amazon Links if you can find them have affiliate tracking IDs in them .. It could be from your host or from a plugin or theme you installed.

If you have caching turned on through a plugin like supercache on your server you need to turn it off and or delete the cache

    also

delete your browser cache and restart your browser

Thanks, folks. I updated my WordPress version first and it appears to be working now. I will follow through with checking my browser cache and plugins as well.
