After long-standing issues with sorting galleries, everything was working fine up until WordPress 7.1. Since the update, galleries do not sort correctly, and photos added after uploading do not appear in the overview. Manual sorting isn’t working either. * Also if I use the NextGen icon to add a gallery in a post, I can selcet the gallery, but if I click on Insert Gallery, nothing happens. Really it is better to add an Imagely gallery block as recommended. Inserting a gallery from the “Add Gallery” button works normally on my test site, so the first thing to check is the version you are running. * The gallery picker had this exact problem in earlier 4.x releases, and we fixed it in 4.4.0. Open “Plugins” in your WordPress admin and check the version shown under NextGEN Gallery. If it is below 4.4.0, update and try again. * Two things worth knowing either way, and [@mbsharp](https://wordpress.org/support/users/mbsharp/) is right about the first one: 1. The “Imagely” block is the one we recommend going forward, rather than “NextGEN Gallery (Legacy)”. 2. Pasting the shortcode, which is what you are doing now, keeps working. * If you are already on 4.4.0 and the button still does nothing, tell me whether you are using the block editor or the Classic Editor, and I will set up a matching test site. * **Sorting, and new photos not showing up** * This part looks like a problem. Every image you upload starts with no position number. Only images you have dragged or sorted get a real one. So a gallery ends up with a mix: your sorted photos hold positions 1, 2, 3 and up, and every new upload sits at 0. * On the front end we sort by that position number and nothing else. When several images share the same number, the database can return them in any order, and that order can differ from one page of the gallery to the next. Images then repeat on one page and never appear on another. The photos this hits are the ones sharing a number, which is exactly your new uploads. In the admin grid those same photos jump to the very front, so look at the start of the gallery rather than the end. * One more thing makes this hard to test. The “Sort Images” button reports “Images sorted successfully!” whether or not anything changed on screen, because it does not reload the image grid afterward. Reload the page before you judge whether a sort worked. * **What to do now** 1. Go to “Imagely > Settings”, open the “Image Options” tab and find “Gallery Sorting”. Set “Sort galleries by” to “Custom order” and “Sort direction” to Ascending, then save. Set to anything else, your manual arrangement is discarded when the gallery renders. 2. Open the gallery, go to the “Images” tab, then drag any single image a little and drop it. Dragging triggers a routine that renumbers every image in the gallery from 1 upward, which clears the ties. 3. Reload the page, and clear any caching plugin or host cache, before you check the front end. 4. Repeat step 2 after you add new photos. Until we fix the numbering on upload, fresh uploads arrive without a position again. * **If dragging does not stick** * Then the save request is being blocked, which is a different problem from the numbering. Open your browser’s Network tab, drag an image, and look for a request to “images/bulk” or “images/move”. A 403, 406 or 503 means a security plugin or your host’s firewall is blocking it. Send me the status code and I will take it from there. * [@defensiefotografie](https://wordpress.org/support/users/defensiefotografie/), 3.39.12 shares very little code with 4.4.0, so I would rather not fold yours in here. Could you open a new topic describing exactly what breaks for you on 7.1? * I am logging the image numbering behavior with our developers now.
