• I am a very new user of WordPress and I have create a new home page. In principle all was working fine. Now If have move the WordPress home page to root directory (according to the instructions “Moving WordPress” ) and it is working, but I have found some problems after the move. The installation is running on Windows system by provider, WordPress 3.81 and twenty twelve themes.

If I want show in Dashboard a new not published page or blog, I always redirected to my start page.
The search function is not working, I also see after pressing search button my start page without error message. The search is working /?s=word is given direct to URLs

I also redirect to start page if for categories the dropdown menue is used

Does anyone know the problem? I hope somebody can help me.
    Home page is http://www.sfc-ulm.de

    Thanks
    Uli

  • What web server are you using? Do you know if it is Apache, or some other server such as Microsoft IIS? Also, check with your hosting provider to make sure the root directory is writeable by the web server. It sounds like you might be having an issue with rewrites and redirects, possibly due to .htaccess being misconfigured (or not supported, depending on the server software you’re using).

    Hi,
It is a Microsoft IIS Server! There is no .htaccess file in Root Directory.

It works now, doesn’t it? You’ve fixed the problem?

No, I’m still seeing the issues he described.

dhuli, did you follow the instructions here for installing WordPress on IIS? I’d take a look at that, there might be something in there that you need to install, or that might help pinpoint the issue. I don’t really know anything about IIS, so unfortunately I’m not of much help at this point. Your host might also be able to help, so it’s worth reaching out to them too.

Your server returns status 301 for url http://www.sfc-ulm.de/?s=fdsafsa, that’s “Moved Permanently”…

Have you tried disabling all plugins for start?

Yes I have disabled all plugins.
My test installation is working with the same plugins. See http://www.sfc-ulm/sfc/index.php

@ Christiaan: It is a goog idea, I will comtact my provider
