Problem with wp-login in subfolders being blocked

  • I have the plug-in working on my main site that is in the root folder. I have used the option to rename wp-login.php to deal with an attack I was getting. Everything works well. I installed a new instance of WordPress in a subfolder for a project I am starting. When I try to access the wp-login.php in the subfolder, I get a 404 Not Found error. I think the plugin is blocking access to all files named wp-login.php regardless of what folder they are in. I had another WP instance in another folder and now the wp-login.php there gives the 404 error as well. I can’t see any options in the menus to deal with this issue and I looked through the past support topics but they don’t seem to address this problem. What should I try?
