Problem with WooCommerce store page

Really stupid question I’m sure…bear with me, first time setting up a store with WooCommerce. I get that WooCommerce sets up a product page when it installs but then I realized that any shortcodes I used on that page to customize it didn’t change anything. Can’t get a sidebar going. Can’t get “recent products” through the WooCommerce shortcodes. That’s here:

    firstcomeslovecrafts.com/store/

So then I set up a page to pull more specific information through based on favorite new items. Problem is, that will only work for a short period of time until I have more items. Oh, and that approach really doesn’t allow for the strength of some of the widgets WooCommerce provides because it’s not a “product archive page” (whatever that means). That’s here.

    firstcomeslovecrafts.com/shop/

So I’m trying to figure out, what am I missing with WooCommerce? Is everyone using the page that WooCommerce sets up by default or is everyone customizing a page and pulling the products through by shortcodes?

I would appreciate any help with this!

Thank you for your patience in advance.
