Problem with website updating

  • I’m pretty new to web design and i’m having some issues with my site refreshing after I change something. I am hosting with hostgator and I have all plugins that cache a page off. I am using the latest thesis theme.

The following will be pictures showing how I have my code setup in thesis:

    IE8
    Chrome

As you can see the page shows up in chrome but not in IE. PS it just recently showed up in chrome, after about a 2 day lag. I have flushed the dns and cleared all browsing and caching data. I have also tried accessing it from multiple computers and from multiple networks.

Is this normal? I really am not sure what the best way to fix this is.
If anyone has any ideas they would be much appreciated.

  • Just a quick update:

It seems Google chrome will refresh the pages html about every 24 hours. However, when a change to the CSS is made the results are seen instantly.

Do you face the same problem after switching to Twenty Twelve theme? If not the problem can be with your theme.

I just tried changing the theme to twenty twelve and I have the same problem. Could this be the fault of my server?

I recommend you to deactivate the Super Cache or any other plugins that you use.
And before that do remember to flush all page caches. You can do that from the admin bar on the top of dashboard, when you’re logged in as admin.

Can we see the site using Twenty Twelve? Have you deactivated all plugins?

In my browser, I see nothing just a border line at the very top of the site. Everything else is blank and grey.

I have deactivated all my plugins. I am not familiar with how to flush the cache from the admin bar. The twenty twelve theme is currently active. The border and grey you are talking about is the CSS I have for the front page. Depending on what browser you use you will get different results.

Your blog is visible, with that theme, its green.

I just got off the phone with host gator. They seem to think there is a problem with the thesis theme. any thoughts about that?

Actually I just tried changing the content in the sample page and now it changed on the site. I think the problem may have been remedied.
