Probably it is because you have updated from a version before 3.6.4. In version 3.7 I have also reformatted some things.
Can everyone having this issue please confirm the following:
- You have selected the option
Use HTML content type for the messages in question
- There is no code on your site that might be removing any relevant filters, such as
wpautop, from being applied

I switched to HTML and tested it.
But for me the HTML view works as it should!
Looks perfect in Check & Log Email and in Thunderbird … at least for me.

I am having the exact same problem. I have tried both to select and deselect HTML content type. I have tried with and without html code in the message. But it every time comes all in one line.
When I uncheck the box, use html, it works fine. When I check it, it shows plain text in my outlook and gmail email box.
