• Hello, i’ve a theme with plugins, and from time to time, i translate strings and save.

I translate 20% of the plugins.

recently, i translate another 2 strings, then hit “save”, and then “sync”, then i want to translate MORE, and it’s says “4 pending” like i translate the whole plugin, i try to search the string i want to translate, but can’t find, i only have 4 strings. all the other is GONE.

i see the date, “last update” is before 3 hours i was translate, what is wrong??

Translation progress is only relative to the file you’re translating.

If you can’t find a particular string, see this FAQ: https://localise.biz/wordpress/plugin/faqs/specific-words

I can only help if you post a download link to the theme or plugin you’re translating.

How you can only help if i give you download link?? for what? this is PAID theme! i can’t bring you link for download the theme.

Since i update loco, all MESS UP MY WEBSITE, all my translate are gone.

And the only thing you can help is “give me download link”…

If you TRUE developer, you must know the weakness of the plugin, debugger it, and solve the clients problems.

    Shame on this support. sorry.

If you TRUE developer, you must know the weakness of the plugin, debugger it, and solve the clients problems.

Name calling isn’t going to solve your problem.

Calmly: the plugin author does not owe you any support whatsoever. All support here is optional and you’re not entitled to even a response from the author.

You may want to keep that in mind and please keep it civil here.

Can you restore your site to an earlier backup?

    this is PAID theme!

Then you’re looking for support in the wrong forums. There are thousands of commercial products and no plugin author can be expected to support what he does not have access to. Do you have the name of this paid theme?

If you don’t want to cooperate with the author, that’s fine. But again you are not owed anything from him.

    Thanks @jdembowski

Not that I need to defend myself, but others may be interested in what would have been a reasonable question, had it not been for the insults accompanying it.

How you can only help if i give you download link?? for what?

After single-handedly answering over 800 support requests on this forum over a period of several years, I have established that ~99.9% of the time, localisation problems cannot be diagnosed though screenshots, anecdotes, or by playing twenty questions.

I have also established that the overwhelming majority of problems reported on this forum are due to the way in which a particular theme has been localised. (often badly, sometimes not at all, and other times just differently to the way my software expects). By far the fastest and most reliable way to establish this for certain is to examine the source files.

I also know, from responding to support requests and from what I know about WordPress localisation, that the “try this”, “try that” approach will almost certainly not get to the bottom of your problem. I know where to look to diagnose this type of fault. And in this case, along with so many others, the place to look is the theme itself.

If the fault turns out to be a bug in my plugin, then great. One bug down. Most of the time this isn’t the case, but I still need to see the theme to find out.

This, I hope, answers your question as to why I can only help if you provide a download link.

I’m not try to desrespect the developer, or trying to make him un supporter.

Aftet spending TIME and MONEY to translate 1200+ strings, i think anybody will be turn table if it going to happen to him, and if you say you are not going to do it so…sorry you lie to YOURSELF. you are not a robot. from what i see it, it’s nature response for the translation are gone.

And the questions, was to the developer, not for members whatever.

About the developer, you must agree, that clients, people, human, that paid and and do hard work, EVEN if the plugin free, you uploaded it to the wordpress platform, so it’s basic things to TEST the plugin, BEFORE you upload it, you can’t just shoot in the dark…assuming that if a client will have problem, you can say: “oh man, sorry it was a bug”, or “i search for solution in the next days”.

Don’t get me wrong, your plugin (was) good! and help me a lot, and i think you test it, before you upload it, you need to understand the frust i have after translate all 1200+ strings, and yes I HAVE A BACKUP, so i try to upload all the “pot” and “mo” and “po” but with no luck. still mess.

I don’t think it’s the theme problem, because nothing changed in the LAST 3 WEEKS. only your plugin.

    Really?

Welcome to a moderated forum. Why not give the Forum Welcome a read to familiarize yourself to these support forums.

I was hoping that this topic would get back to sorting out the sa78’s problem but based on the latest reply that’s not likely to happen.

    *Drinks coffee, coffee is good*

@sa78 I’m closing this topic. I was hoping you’d reply with “I’m using Theme <INSERT-NAME-HERE> from <INSERT-URL-HERE>” but you appear to be more interested in recriminations. That’s not productive and but this part is.

and yes I HAVE A BACKUP

Then I suggest you restore your site to the state it was before you updated this plugin.

    https://codex.wordpress.org/Restoring_Your_Database_From_Backup
    https://managewp.com/how-to-perform-a-manual-restoration-of-your-wordpress-site

And consider using another free plugin.
