Problem with the Larger Edit Input Fields Extension

    Hi Tobias,

    I’m having a problem with the “Larger Edit Input Fields Extension“, and I have a feeling that it’s because of the large table (530+ rows) that I’m editing. I was having WordPress time out when I was trying to edit a cell, using the Extension, in the new row that I had added to this table. I can create the new row without a problem. But when I copy a cell from another row to a cell in the new row and activate the Advanced Editor on that cell I get the “Pages Unresponsive error“. If I select “Wait” the error reoccurs. And continues to reoccur no matter how long I wait.

    If I Deactivate the Larger Edit Input Fields Extension I have no problem.

    I have a screen print of the error, but no way to attach it here.

    I’m thinking that the large table is just too big to be handled by the editor.

    I’ve thought about breaking the large table into smaller parts, but then the Search wouldn’t work.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

    thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.

    To be honest, I can’t imagine that the Larger Edit Fields Extension could cause this. All it does is add a tiny bit of CSS code to change the size. It does not influence the JavaScript code in any way.

    Now, indeed, the problem is caused by the number of input fields on that page. Most browser have problems managing those. Have you maybe tried a different browser? There’s so much happening in browser development that other browsers might be more efficient here.

    I should have thought about a different browser. I was using Chrome and tried Firefox. There’s an amazing difference in the speed in which each handles the tables. Firefox outclasses Chrome, things load much quicker, scrolling is much quicker, and the problem went away.
