Hi. I’m trying to get my site working locally on a LAMP installation in a sub-folder of the root, but struggling with the links in the site. I imported the database from the live site, and have installed the files into http://[ip-address]/proto3. I have set WordPress URL and Site URL in General settings to http://[ip-address]/proto3.

I can log into the site and the homepage loads up fine, but when I click to link to (for example) a page with a URL of page http://[ip-address]/proto3/?page_id=nn, the link jumps to http://[ip-address]/?page_id=nn i.e. misses out the install subdirectory in the URL, and obviously errors. If I manually insert the directory in the browser address bar, the page loads fine.

I’ve cross checked that both WordPress URL and Site URL are identical. I do not have an .htaccess file.

Any guidance would be much appreciated. 🙂

  • Have you tried resetting your permalinks?

No. Just tried that. On the permalink page it shows how the permalink will look – and shows the /proto3/ directory in the example URL. Even when I hard code a link into a page, the resulting url does not have the /proto3/ bit in it. 🙁 Really confusing.

Hi. sorted. The menu in my theme was corrupted. Rebuilt it – all works well. Thanks esmi. You pointed me in the right direction.
