Problem with PostRevolution plugin
I am having a problem with posts, pages, categories, and menus with the PostRevolution plugin. Now the problem is more with understanding pages and categories which effects the plugin.
Ok, so I bought the plugin PostRevolutions which creates nice looking grids for your website. However, in order to activate the plugin, you have to copy and paste the shortcode for the layout you want into a new page. The problem here is that when I create a post, that post goes into a category rather than to a page, and there is no such thing as copying and pasting stuff into a category because you can’t write stuff in a category, you can only post in categories, but you can write stuff in pages.
So when I arrange my pages on the menu so that my categories is under a specific page, the post appears in the category but does not appear on the page. So for example, I have three pages: Games, games on sale, and free games. The games on sale and free games are subpages to the parent page Games. So only Home and Games appear on the main menu on my site and under Games are the subpages free games and games on sale. Now under games on sale are the categories (not pages) of Bundle games, Indie games, and Steam games. Alright, so I have created two sample posts to appear in the category of Steam games. When I click on Steam games under games on sale and under Games, I see the two posts that I have created, but they do not appear in the layout as they are supposed to appear according to the plugin. They are supposed to be in a grid, but instead they are in a list. Also, when I click on the Games page, or even the games on sale page, I don’t see any posts. Shouldn’t all the posts that I posted for free games and games on sale appear in the Games page and shouldn’t all the posts for the categories Bundle games, Indie games, and Steam games appear in the games on sale page, and then only the posts that are specifically for the category Steam games should appear in there. Isn’t that how it’s supposed to work? Well for me, the two posts I created only appear in the Home page and the Steam games category.
Now, I would’ve just made everything on my main menu into categories rather than have pages on my main menu so that it would be easier for my posts to appear after I have created them because you can only label posts into categories, but the problem to that is I cannot paste the shortcode for a layout from the PostRevolution plugin in a category. It can only be pasted into a page in order to have the layout. But I don’t see the layout that I want appear nor do I see the posts where I am supposed to see them. Am I making the pages or categories the right way and organizing them the right way in the menu?
I know this can seem a bit complicated and confusing to follow, and it is a lot to read, but I would really appreciate some help because I am going head over heels looking into tutorials and videos and such, but finding no result to fixing my problem. I tried to make this as easy and specific as possible so it would be easy to understand and hopefully create a solution.
This is my site with the theme Vantage:
This is the instructions for the plugin PostRevolution:
Sorry, you will need to contact the company you purchased the plugin directly.

I see, well part of the problem was related to the plugin. I didn’t know why the layout didn’t show up on the page. But the other problem is related to pages and categories. I don’t understand why my games page and games on sale page is empty but only the Steam games page (which is a category) shows the two posts even though the Steam games category is under the games page.
Basically what is the difference between putting pages on my main menu than categories. What should I do so that all my posts from the free games page and the games on sale page show up in the main Games page and also, all the posts from the Bundle games, Indie games, and Steam games categories show up in the games on sale page. How can I do that?
All of your questions are template related, which has to do with your theme.

Ok, so I looked over the article. And after contacting the author, I was able to fix the problem with the plugin. However, I am still not able to fix the problem I am having with having my posts show up in a specific page on my main menu. I’ve looked up many tutorials and videos and I still do not understand how to do this.
Go to appearance > menu and select the category you want to appear as a page in your menu.
Yea I did that with the bundle games, indie games, and steam games categories. But is it possible to have posts show up in a specific page without having categories appear as a page? Thanks for all the help by the way.
Make another parent category of Games. Link all of your game categories to this one.
Revisit support on your plugin and ask for help there. I’m not sure that I understand what you’re trying to do
Ok, so like in the theme Oblivion listed below, is it possible to have a dropdown from the menu like the Home and Features tabs show in the main menu of the theme, where clicking on the Home or Features tab doesn’t direct to a new page, but a dropdown of subpages? Or can that only be done with that theme?
