Support » Plugin: Google XML Sitemaps » Problem with parsing external sitemap.xsl

    Hi from Germany,

to better match the output of the sitemap.xml, I tried to assign a sitemap.xsl out of my theme folder. I inserted ../../stage/themes/sixtyseven/sitemap.xsl in the settings input and the path resolves to the proper location (tried it with an absolute url as well, just to be sure). Unfortunately I get a syntax error. After expecting that a while, I came to the solution: Seems that the mod_rewrite doesn’t like the url and throws a 404.

Any idea what to add to the .htaccess to ignore my external sitemap.xsl from rewriting?

    Help is gladly appreciated!

I use a custom “sitemap.xsl”, i have put it in the “google-sitemap-generator” plugin folder on my server and it gets used to generate the sitemaps, no need to put any path in the settings folder.

If things go wrong then simply put back the original “sitemap.xsl” that comes packed with the plugin.

In that case, it will get overwritten every time the plugin gets an update. I guess that’s why the author put such a setting in it.

Thats correct, on update i always put my custom “sitemap.xsl” back in the plugin folder to replace the default one. Not the perfect solution but then it works on my end. If someone has a better solution then i’m also interested.
