When using the Modern Tribe Events Calendar, on “Upcoming Events” the “Next Events” link just displays the circling wait gif.

We recently added the plugin SSL Insecure Content Fixer since Chrome is now noting when websites are not using https. I’m suspecting this may be part of the problem, although deactivating this plugin doesn’t seem to resolve the issue.

I know interaction issues are difficult. However, we would like to be secure and use the Events Calendar.

    G’day tlasuk,

Please provide a link to your website so that someone can look at what’s happening in a browser.

    cheers,

Thank you for you speedy response!

A secondary question – could this plugin be responsible for WordPress admin no longer recognizing our passwords? We’ve logged out, cleared the cache, and logged back in.

First time works but returning to the admin section is now asking for username and password and failing. We have to “reset password” to get back in.

Thank you again for you help!

I tried brute force – changing to a basic theme, deactivating all plugins, clearing cache, restarting browser, reactivating the theme and plugins. I found that I had to change the events url from http to https manually (actually . So there is some interaction with http vs https.

There is still a slight problem but I think it’s Modern Tribe’s issue.

clearing the cache and restarting the browser clears up the login issue of not recognizing the user name and password.

So you might check on what you are caching, if anything.

    G’day tlasuk,

Sorry for the long delay in responding, it’s been a busy couple of weeks (and very hot too!)

It looks like you’ve resolved your Modern Tribe issue, because the Next Events link seems to be working OK for me. It’s an AJAX action that requires some JavaScript resources to all be loaded at the right time, so it could be that you sometimes get an error, which would result in an endless spinner.

Regarding the login problem, that’s something that happens if you have logged in from http and then access the admin over https. WordPress uses cookies to keep track of login sessions, and things can get a bit messed up when you chop and change. Always best to only login to WordPress on https. I probably need to write more doco to cover some of this stuff!

    cheers,
    Ross

Thank you. I meant to let you know that Modern Tribe’s updated their plugin (I did figuring out a partial work around too).

Duh! on the login issue. I’ve been experiencing similar issues with reflexively using http in links – but didn’t catch myself with the login.
