 * Hello everyone,
 * I’m a relative newbie to WordPress, but I have done 2 successful installations
on a different host with no problems.
 * My problem is that when I go to my blog after uploading the files, I get the
   following message:
 * “There doesn’t seem to be a wp-config.php file. I need this before we can get
started. Need more help? We got it. You can create a wp-config.php file through
a web interface, but this doesn’t work for all server setups. The safest way
is to manually create the file.”
 * However, I have edited the wp-config-sample.php file with the relative DB information,
changed the file name (making sure the filename is in lower case), and have uploaded
   the file to the server.
 * When I click on the link to create a wp-config.php file through the web interface,
   I get the following message:
 * “The file ‘wp-config.php’ already exists. If you need to reset any of the configuration
items in this file, please delete it first. You may try installing now.”
 * This seems to indicate that the file really is there, which kind of confuses
me as the first message the server gives me indicates that it isn’t there.
 * Furthermore, when I follow the link to try installing, I get this message:
 * “Fatal error: Failed opening required ‘//wp-settings.php’ (include_path=’.:’)
   in //wp-config.php on line 20”
 * I have set the permissions, and believe this should be working like a champ…but
   its not.
 * Also, my host provider is Hostsave, in case that is relevent.
 * TIA for any help you guys can shoot my way!!!!

 * The // is breaking things.
Have you set up a blog there before ? The // is related
to the php settings of the host, so they need to sort that out.

 * I haven’t set up a blog with Hostsave before, but I did find out that they are
running PHP 4.0.6, which is inadequate for WordPress (I think it needs to be
at least version 4.1). They are in the process of upgrading the servers to 4.3.
x I think, so that should resolve this problem.
 * Thanks for the tip on the // though. If I continue to have problems, I’ll contact
   them.

 * It says 4.1 or greater…

 * Yes, thank you for the response about WordPress needing 4.1 or greater, and I
did figure that out. I was told that the servers would handle WordPress by the
sales rep, but the guy I spoke to probably didn’t know what he was talking about.

 * Of course he didn’t …. he’s the sales rep…. Sales reps are notorious for selling
vaproware….. or selling empty features, then asking the developers to implement
   it.
