Support » Plugin: AMP WP - Google AMP For WordPress » Problem with link structure and canonical metatag

  • Hi. I’m testing on localhost and the plugin is very good, but before using the online site I need some bug fixes:
    1. the amp permalink option is not working properly. If I select url format “End Point”, the default posts respond with a valid AMP page in both formats (strange behavior).

But the biggest problem is with custom post and taxonomies continues to respond only with /amp/ at the beginning of the url. My current amp structure created by another plugin (which I want to stop using) is with /amp/ at the end, and modifying this would now cause many 404 errors.

    2. missing add meta-tag <link rel=”canonical”… for custom post and custom taxonomy (according to the fundamentals in https://www.ampproject.org/docs/fundamentals/discovery is mandatory)

Can you correct this, please? I’m excited to use your plugin.

    Hi @moisb,

Thank you for the kind words.

    Please read our replies below:

    1) This is strange, we couldn’t reproduce this on our end. We’ve tested with custom post type, here’s a reference URL:
    https://help.ampwp.io/articles/configuring-amp-wp-options/amp/

    2) Again this is already implemented and working. You can inspect the URL mentioned above it has the canonical meta tag.

You can try to clear your cache and see if that helps. Also, please de-activate and then re-activate the plugin in order to update the permalinks, that might resolve any permalink issues (Please read this thread here: Important Note: 404 Errors after Updating URL format)

Let us know if you still face any issues after doing the above.

    Thanks
