  • Product slug must be unique because it is the post_name (‘slug’) and does not depend on any taxonomy, that’s why there is a -2 suffix.

    I recommend using the different slug for these eg: /luncheon-chicken-marsala and /dinner-chicken-marsala

    That is, unfortunately, a WordPress thing and nothing WooCommerce can do about it. Products or any post/page/custom post type slug needs to be unique no matter if they have different URL structures, that is just the way WordPress mandates it.

    I agree with the last commenter in that you should rather add a prefix or suffix of sort to these smaller dishes, might just cause less confusion as well when visitors view the URL or see the link posted somewhere.

    Marking this as resolved as there is no way around this.
